Remember the voice that gave good bitch? Well, Snitches, Eva Rothchild is BACK!
Pip and I are making the final push for 08.08.08; and with less than 24 hours until Pitcher’s Pendant and Digital Magic (which are already getting reviews on Amazon.com) make their impression, the interviews are coming in! Featured here is one of the voices from The Case of The Singing Sword, the Grand Dame of Podcasting herself: Mur Lafferty and her Parsec-winning podcast I Should Be Writing.
Once upon a time, I Should Be Writing was a “Fiction Writing Podcast for Wanna-Be Fiction Writers, by a Wanna-Be Fiction Writer” but all that is about to change on 08.25.08 when Playing for Keeps is released on Amazon.com. While you can expect more about that in my other podcast, The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy, Mur opens up her podcast for a round table discussion with us about working together in promotion, working together as writers, and what were planning for the future…
And yes, because I was in the presence of The Grand Dame of Podcasting and New Zealand’s Dark Goddess, I remain very quiet…and in my box…
Billi Banter: A Double Trouble Interview with I Should Be Writing: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (4228)We’re closing in on the big event, Double Trouble, and podcasters are working hard to get their interviews online before the big day. And along the same line as Schoolbus Cast, Pip and Tee are kicking off another podcast: Inklings 2.0. Host Steve “Snowball” Saylor brings to the podosphere an updated, upgraded version of a 1939 writers’ group that featured J.R.R. Tolkein and C.S. Lewis. With Inklings 2.0, all creative types are welcome to come in for a round table discussion about the process, the planning, and the passion for artistic adventures. This was their last interview after a long day of interviews…
…and that means, near the end, things get a wee-bit silly. Enjoy, and be there for the big day…the big day closing in quickly on Pip and myself!
Billi Banter: A Double Trouble Interview with Inklings 2.0: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (7884)Hello again, Snitches and Bitches!
Will less than three days to go, Double Trouble is really ramping up for an unforgettable day on Amazon.com. Tonight on the feed is Words to Mouth, a show for writers of all genres. Host Carrie Runnals brings to her blog and podcast a wide array of talented individuals, and now Pip and Tee are in the spotlight, talking about their promotional collaboration on 08.08.08!
Enjoy, and we will see you on Amazon!
Billi Banter: A Double Trouble Interview with Words to Mouth [41:54m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (7945)Three hours.
This podcast is three — hours — long.
What else can I say? This is a super-sized audio experience of epic podcasting proportions…and in the words of Tony Mast: “132MB of sweet, sweet nectar that you will drink up and want more when you are done.”
So, Snitches & Bitches, if you missed my rants, my ADD-esque banter, and my riffs, here you go…and this time, Pip is coming along for the ride. Enjoy…
We certainly did!
So, Billi is currently helping me discover how I’ve got a nasty hum in my mixer board. Don’t know where it came from, but that’s why the dwarf is looking into it…
“The Case of the Mysterious Mixing Board”…no, I don’t think that will be the NEXT Billibub Baddings book…
I’m waiting on my workaround (that workaround being a new mixer out of BSWUSA.com…), but I am still forging ahead with both the promotions and the marketing of The Case of The Pitcher’s Pendant. Here is a terrific interview with the brew-mistress herself, Jenn Baker, on Creative Adventures, found at YourCre8tivity.com. Have a listen as Pip and I talk about the challenges of creativity, de-mystifying creative types and finding inspiration from one another, and looking backwards and forwards in our creative lives.
After getting in more than a mouthful on the movie podcasts, Tee is schooled on a podcast coming out of the Southern Hemisphere. (Good thing he knows the “Bruce” sketch by heart, otherwise, he would be completely sunk!) Tee and Pip enjoy some quality time on Erk Pod’s Round Table where the chat is lively and quite geeky! Enjoy the banter between siblings (Australia and New Zealand) while Tee does his best to uphold the reputation of the average obnoxious American…
…and somewhere in there, they do talk a bit about Double Trouble!
Show Post Mortum can be found here.
Hello, Snitches & Bitches!
Expect a ton of extra content in the feed this week as I catch up on past interviews and make a mad dash (with Philippa Ballantine) for the promotional Finish Line in these next two weeks. Yes, it is closing in on us fast: 08.08.08, the day of Double Trouble on Amazon.com! The media is getting hit and hit hard by the press releases (more to come on that…) and the podoshere is also carrying the word out to the people. One such media outlet is the man behind the cloning sensation and voice talent from Chapter Eleven, J.C. Hutchins! Join us as we three sit down to talk writing, promotion, and working within (and outside) the Fantasy genre.
So what started out as Billi’s Crazy Eights has now officially evolved into Double Trouble. It is only fitting that there be a promo featuring our boy, Billi Baddings, tripping down Memory Lane with his old gambling pal from Acryonis, Puck…
The date hasn’t changed, just the scope of the event! Show your love for podcast fiction and let people know that trouble is headed for Amazon on 08.08.08!
With 22 days until the launch of The Case of The Pitcher’s Pendant and Digital Magic, Pip and Tee are showing no signs of slowing as they continue their push for August 8, 2008. In this interview with Stephen Kilbride of Tea & Chat we push Skype as hard as we can by juggling time zones and talking…a LOT! Pull up a chair and a strong cup of brew as we let the accents fly…
The media blitz of “Double Trouble”, the joint promotion on 08.08.08 where Pip and I take our new books up the Amazon.com charts, continues with an interview on Dead Robots Society. This podcast is a terrific round table for writers where the talk ranges from writing challenges to all things geeky. (There is some chatter in this episode about EUReKA…) The New Zealand Kiwi and Virginia Ham join Justin and Amanda for some unbridled banter about what they are up to and what they are planning for their Friday in August.
Expect to hear Tee and Pip on these fine podcasts in the future…
….and many, many more!
Also, happening RIGHT NOW is Matthew Wayne Selznick making a run with Brave Men Run, a book best described as X-Men meets The Breakfast Club. (Don’t mind the “Sold Out” message. You can still order it!) I love this podcast novel, and you can join us all (Pip, Matthew, myself, and others…) in Matt’s live Ustream event!

As many of you Snitches and Bitches may know, Billi’s Crazy Eights” has now evolved into “Double Trouble” with author and podcaster Philippa Ballantine joining me on the 08.08.08 rush on Amazon.com.
Why, you may ask? Take a listen to this interview with Tech for Writers, a podcast that focuses on the different gadgets out there specifically designed for writers. Along with the background on “Double Trouble” expect to hear banter between the New Zealand Kiwi and Virginia Ham, tech tips for podcasting a novel, and some good old fashioned geeking out.
And yes, this is the first Double Trouble interview. Expect more as we close in on 08.08.08!
Tech for Writers: Double Trouble with Pip and Tee [45:21m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (4432)Hey, everyone…
With an interview this weekend, I’m beginning to talk up Billi’s Crazy Eights. That being said, I’m about to dive into the edits for Chapters 11-16. The first half of the book has been polished and refined. I’m now looking at a two week crunch time to get Billi done and to the publisher. It’s not a problem with the editor keeping up with me, but vice-versa. I’m firing up iTunes and getting ready to dive in deep.
On doing so, I realize many of you were curious about the playlist I put together for Billi when I’m writing for him. With me, I’m always building on my books’ soundtracks. After you all have been so patient, I thought I’d finally list here the playlist for Billibub Baddings (spanning across two of his mysteries)…
Naked Under Leather, Rubber Band Banjo
Frankie Machine, Elmer Bernstein and His Orchestra
My Funny Valentine, Frank Sinatra
M SQUAD Theme, Stanley Wilson
Floozie, Alex North & His Orchestra
Fade to Black, Dire Straits
The Boss, JG & The Universal-International Orchestra
The Street, Elmer Bernstein
Droid Jazz, Rubber Band Banjo
I Got Plenty of Nuthin’, Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald

Under My Skin, Frank Sinatra
Caper at the Coffee House, WB & Warner Brothers Star Instruments
Riff Blues, Skip Martin
Speak Softly Love, Al Martino
Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, John Barry
Your Six Self-Adaptive Inputs, Rubber Band Banjo
Lazy Mary, Lou Monte
Staccato’s Theme, Buddy Morrow & His Orchestra
At Last, Etta James

Ain’t That A Kick In The Head, Dean Martin
Woke Up This Morning (Chosen One Mix), A3
Many of the songs in this soundtrack come from a terrific collection called “Crime Jazz” and “Mob Hits”. It was after I started podcasting that Rubber Band Banjo got into the mix. Enjoy these selections if you set out to make your own Billi collection, and I’ll keep everyone in the know on how things are progressing with Billi’s next case.
Talk to you soon…
As you all know, I’m all about supporting podcast fiction authors out there. (Heck quite a few are featured in this podcast, and in Morevi: Remastered. This is why I couldn’t say no after Seth Harwood and J.C. Hutchins asked me to drop this message to you, my Snitches and Bitches, into Billi’s feed.
Scott Sigler’s Infected is out and all of us in the community of podcast writers are coming together to help get the word out.
Of course, this was also a grand opportunity to talk a little bit about Billi’s Crazy Eights.

This is when The Pitcher’s Pendant: A Billibub Baddings Mystery will be ready for shipping, and this will be when I make my run on Amazon.com. Let’s show the industry just how high a four-foot-one dwarf can reach!

For those you who remember Chapter Three, Joe Murphy is a familiar voice to you. he was one of Moran’s boys that tried to take on the biggest little detective in Chicago. You also know that a year ago today, Joe was taken from us…far too soon. In honor of his passing, the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund presents a collection of memories, from around the world.
On April 1, a podcaster takes one small step for writers, one giant leap for the publishing industry…

Infected, the new horror novel by Scott Sigler!
Now, if you’re not familiar with Scott’s work, be warned — Scott’s work is not for the faint at heart. He is about to grab the attention of booksellers and publishers, and we can hope that doors previously closed to podcasting authors like myself, Philippa Ballantine, P.G. Holyfield and Mur Lafferty to name a few (and there are so many talented podcasting authors out there…) will open.
Until that opportunity comes by, enjoy the PDF, and I will be talking to you soon…
…and yes, something big is coming down the pike. Billibub’s next case is coming soon…
Happy New Year, my Snitches & Bitches! We’re only in the second week of the new year and a lot of good things are having over here at Baddings Investigations. Take a listen and find out the latest on…

Hey, my Snitches & Bitches! It’s me — and as promised, I’m bringing a special preview to you of my next podcasting project — Morevi: Remastered. The details and, of course, the chapter is all in the file; but have a listen and enjoy the ride.
More news included in this exclusive preview concerning Billibub Baddings and The Case of The Pitcher’s Pendant. More to come, Crew! More to come…
Hello, my Snitches!
So where have I been and what’s going on with the monthly Billi Banters? Well, if you want to hear a full update on what I’ve been doing, take a listen to Episode #33 of The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy. This announcement will also give you a peek at what I’ve been doing with MOREVI: Remastered. So, I’ve been busy…
…and making progress on the new Billibub Baddings and the Case of the Pitcher’s Pendant.
Well, I just lost the Billi Snitch Line.
Yes, K7 gave away my voice mail as I had little to no activity for a month. (I know…how long have I been using it?!) While rules are rules, it doesn’t mean I have to like ‘em.
So, my beloved Snitches, I’m searching for an alternative to the Snitch Line. Bear with me.
No, you’re not seeing things. This is a new Personal Best. TWO HOURS!
TWO HOURS of Listener Appreciation which includes…
And don’t forget: July 7, 2007. After you listen to J.C. Hutchins‘ opening podcast of 7th Son: Book Three, join me and Leann Mabry for an exit interview where you Snitches can call in! Cian of View from the Quad is putting this together, so click here for more details on how to call in and talk to us!
So, I’m checking out the listing for Billi on iTunes, and on the second page of Arts > Literature I saw that iTunes was really digging the Dwarf Detective…

Then again, it could be a glitch. Still, I’d like to think Jobs is listening on his iPhone…
It’s been a a weekend of sugar highs, birthday games, and facing toys with those three words that strike terror in the hearts of mortal men (“Some Assembly Required”), but when I finally got down to The Bunker this weekend I found a mp3 file on my desktop and sticky note on one of my monitors that read “Don’t ask. Just post.”
I think Billi got into my recording equipment…
This is it, everyone. The last chapter. Not the last podcast, but the big goodbye to Billi…for now.

Thanks, my Snitches. Now, I’m off to record…
You Snitches have been waiting, and waiting more than patiently. Well, here it is…Chapter Fifteen.

00:00 — The 2007 Parsec Awards

2:58 — Chapter Fifteen: Hell, Hell, the Gang’s All Here
Dwarf detective Billi Baddings was originally hired by socialite Julia Lesinger to uncover the “why’s” behind the death of her mobster boyfriend Pretty Boy DeMayo. Unexpectedly, he uncovered the existence of The Singing Sword, an ancient talisman from his own homeworld of Acryonis. This weapon of mass destruction is now somewhere in the streets of the Windy City and everyone from crooked curators to frustrated feds to the big boss — Alphonse “Scarface” Capone himself — is looking for it.
Oddly enough, the breakthrough in this case — both in DeMayo’s death and The Singing Sword — happened over Mick’s chicken soup and ham-and-cheese special. The hunch led Billi to a speakeasy and left him at the docks.
Tonight, everything happens.

You know…life sucks in that my paying jobs (the day job, Wiley Publishing) all seemed to crack the whip and make demands in the eleventh hour of Billibub Baddings.
I promised Billi’s Snitches and Bitches an episode, and I’m still planning to deliver. I’m trying to figure out where I can start putting Chapter Fifteen together, but so you know — my goal is to post the episode Friday night. I’m in Day Two of the Podcasting Boot Camp and Wiley is…well, it’s where it’s at. I’ve got a lot of plates spinning, and — as things go — they’re all spinning at this point of the story.
I will whet your appetite on this…in the final chapter of The Singing Sword, you’ve got a little surprise coming for being so good to me, especially in wake of the Billi #14 Rant.
Hang tight, everybody. I left you on a cliffhanger…but Fifteen is on the way, just weather the storm with me. Thanks.
One part Billibub…two parts bitching. Brace yourself. Tee’s not in a happy place…

Dwarf detective Billi Baddings has been grappling with the unknown location of The Singing Sword, but standing toe-to-toe with homicidal curators, conniving socialites, and even Al Capone himself was peanuts at the ball park compared to one night of intimate investigations with his client, social princess Julia Lessinger. While in the midst of the afterglow of a very long, very enticing evening Billi discovers a breakthrough in his case through Mick’s chicken soup and ham-and-cheese special.

Billi feels the need to step away from all this…and with an invitation extended by Eva Rothchild, Julia Lesinger’s high society foil, he’s about to enjoy a night out on the town.

Joe Murphy, known to you all as “Eddie” in Chapter Three, was a regular fixture on Farpoint Media shows like The Kick Ass Mystic Ninjas, Michael and Evo’s Wingin’ It, and the award-winning Slice of SciFi. On Sunday, April 1, Joe passed away due to an aggressive cancer. He was 34. Joe was a lot more than an active podcaster, a gifted book reviewer, and a talented writer. He was a great friend. It was a truly humbling experience to see the podcasting community rally around him; and it was evident that he was loved, here in the States and around the world.
In honor of my friend’s memory, the Billibub Baddings podcast is going dark this week. Chapter Eight will post next Wednesday along with a Special Edition of listener Voice Mail, mp3 files sent, and other comments on iTunes and the blog.
Please visit The Joe Murphy Memorial Fund to find out more about what we are doing in his name, and click here to view an incredible tribute from artist Cheyenne Wright.

Yes, when you see the Code Shaman himself, Chris Miller, thank him for fixing my blog. After exhausting avenues with Dreamhost and WordPress, Chris stepped in and got Billi back up and running. (And with what’s happening out here in Arizona, really suck timing DH and WP!!!)
Special thanks to all of you who dropped me an e-mail to let me know of the technical difficulties. If you all encounter any other feed issues or such, you know where to find me!
And now…back to your regularly scheduled podcast.
It’s a night of podcasting for me as I’m posting this show, a special edition of The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy, and putting the final touches on Chapter Six. (I was planning to wrap up recording Chapter Seven, but I’m beat!)
00:00 — Intro
02:14 — Chapter Three: Getting on My Bad Side
A frustrating day of confusing clues and desk drawers sealed with low level magic does a lot for a dwarf’s appetite, and there’s no better place to fill an empty stomach than Mick’s. It’s the best place in town for chili, attracting all kinds of patrons. Some of the patrons are regulars…
…while the new folk don’t know any better on dealing with a dwarf.

In its first week on Podiobooks.com, Billi made quite an impression:
And Billi’s not the only one celebrating. Take another look at the image and you’ll see that MOREVI is enjoying (once again!) a comeback in both Daily and Monthly subscriptions!
Thanks, everyone, for showing some love to my dwarf detective, English privateer and the First Queen. Keep on spreading the word and let’s make Billi one of Podiobooks’ (and podcasting’s) “must have” feeds!
Welcome to Chapter Two of Billibub Baddings and The Case of The Singing Sword. I appreciate your patience in this posting. My Internet went TILT! last night and so I was a bit delayed in this posting.
But let it be known: You can’t keep a good dwarf down…
00:00 — Intro
03:00 — Chapter Two: “Scene of the Grime”
A slow Friday at Baddings Investigations turns into the case of a lifetime for Billibub Baddings, dwarf detective. Hired by Chicago socialite Julia Lesinger, Billi begins his investigation into why Anothony “Pretty Boy” DeMayo was whacked by his own boss.

So I’m gearing up for Billi’s premiere, and I log on to my WordPress to make a post. I find out that I’ve got traffic coming in from SFFAudio.com. Jesse Willis and his crew have not only been very good to me, but they have been stellar to Podiobooks.com in reviewing many of the productions we have there. I click on the link, and I can say — now — I have arrived.
I’m getting reviews for my promos.
Most promos follow a standard formula: Give a taste of what the show is like, give the podcast’s URL give the URL again. In the case of Tee Morris though, there’s a whole new level of fun happening. His recent promos and teasers are more than just advertising, they are entertainment in themselves.
Read the entire review by clicking here.
Good omens for what I’m hoping will be an entertaining podcast for all of you! Thank you SFFAudio for the attention, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this — an unabridged podcast — of Billibub Baddings and The Case of The Singing Sword.
And here it is! The premiere of Billibub Baddings and The Case of The Singing Sword! Let’s take a look at what’s going on in this 1:13:46-long episode…
Mighty big episode for a dwarf-sized detective, huh?
00:00 — Intro
02:33 — Chapter One: “Trouble is a Princess in High Heels”
It is Chicago, 1929, and Billibub Baddings is a four-foot-one dwarf detective in a world of six-foot thugs, creeps, and lowlifes. It’s a slow Friday at Baddings Investigations, until one of Chicago’s higher society walks into his office. A case is about to open a world of trouble for Billi.

It’s only four days until launch date for Billibub Baddings, and I’m posting…yet another promo.
This promo completes the comedy trifecta of BB teasers that feature award-nominated podcast novelists Scott Sigler and J.C. Hutchins. The inspiration comes from podcaster Paul S. Jenkins who commented in Rev Up Review Show #29 that he was more concerned about the fate of Sigler and Hutchins than on Billi’s premiere. So, once again, I called on the talents of Scott and Hutch…
Rev Master, this one’s for you! (A more “gritty” version of this promo is available here.)
Thank you all for subscribing. See you in four days!
Billibub Baddings Promo
Running Time: 02:30
Hello, everyone!
Yes, we have a week to go and I’m already cooking up a new promo to round off the “comedy trifecta” of previous teasers available here. I’m also putting on final touches to future episodes, so Billi and I are right on track.
Just as a reminder, keep an eye on the word meter in this blog’s sidebar. That is for Billibub Baddings and The Case of The Pitcher’s Pendant, the second Billibub Baddings mystery from Dragon Moon Press, slated for a Spring 2008 release. I’m back into a writing routine with it…and would it surprise anyone that I’m already mapping out in my head the cast list for its podcast? Who do I have in mind? You’ll have to find out when I get past the Legacy of Morevi podcast.
Yikes! 2008 is already shaping up to be a busy year and I’m not even two months into 2007!
Speaking of cast members, take a look at The BB Players page, now with complete bios (except for Scott Sigler. I may need to make one up for him. That could be fun…) and new company members. These are talented people, all of them, and I am thrilled that they are taking part in this podcast. Have a listen to their stuff, and then sit back and enjoy what they bring to Billi’s first podcast mystery.
Finally, have a listen to this week’s and next week’s Technorama with Chuck and Kreg, as I’ll be appearing on their light-hearted look at tech to talk about Billi, this podcast, and good cigars!
We’re one day closer to the big hit. Let your friends know there’s a new dwarf coming to town. In seven days…
…it would be counting down, but I got wrapped up in the 24 premiere. This post is a few days late!
In one month, Billibub Baddings and The Case of The Singing Sword will launch. This will be a weekly podcast of the award-nominated novel that has a bit of fun with Fantasy and Mystery genres, and the production features a variety of voices from the podosphere. Find out more about The BB Players by clicking here.
The clock is ticking and I hope you will join me (along with The BB Players) for the Billibub Baddings podcast, launching on Valentine’s Day, 2007!
To officially test the feed, I’m posting the first promo for this podcast. If you host a podcast or host a radio show that promotes podcasts, feel free to play it! If you are a fan of podcasting and think this promo would be a good fit for a favorite podcast of yours, please ask permission first and then send in the promo.
Thank you all for subscribing to the feed! See you on Valentine’s Day for the premiere of the Billibub Baddings Podcast!
