Reviews of MOREVI

I am just writing to let you know you have joined a small group of writers who get what I consider the best reaction an author can get from a reader. The urge to not only smack around the Characters for being so dense, stubborn, and on occasion stupid, but to also beat the author for daring to even go there. When [PLOT SPOILER HERE], if you had been in reach I would have given you an earful.

There are books you read and enjoy, or read put down for what ever reason then come across again and go "Oh yeah I was reading that.", pick it back up and finish it, enjoy it. Then there are the books where you can't wait to get back to even though you want as I said to smack those idiot characters around and when you finish it go. "That's it. No, not fair." So I am glad I have Legacy. But as much as I want to read it, I don't because when it is done I will have to wait for the next book.

Just thought you should now how close the book came to being tossed across the room at one point. Another quick note, it has been slow at work, summer and all, so we have been spending the last half hour or so reading, there have been a couple of night where the other two girls were complaining about how bad their books were. I never had that complaint.

I finished reading Morevi at about 4 in the morning the day after sending the email. It was VERY engrossing. I'll admit to skipping ahead a couple times to find out what happened to Rafe and Askana. I always went back and read the parts that I skipped, it was just that Rafe and Askana were very fun and enjoyable characters. I did want to congradulate and thank you SOOO much for the ending. Every time I get dragged out to a chick flick with my girlfriend or even fantasy novels written by guys for guys, whenever the "lead" couple have their final break up fight and go their separate ways, it's always the male character who has to go and beg on their knees for the female to take him back even if it was monumentally the woman's fault. Your ending with Askana nervously going through the Rift and "asking" for Rafe to take her back, was very well done. I really liked the special touch of having Rafe stick around for a bit and still playing Queen's Guardian by protecting her ships.

I've already read the chapter for Legacy you've posted online, and can't wait for the next book to come out.

Tee, I just finished Morevi. Well done! Makes me wish I'd bought Billibub at StellarCon when I had the chance. Now I am reduced to waiting for you to "complete" another book. The trials of a new fan...

Thanks for a fascinating read!

I read Morevi, and I adored it. Rafe was the perfect scoundrel...and so good at what he did it was delightful. And, I loved the companions betting on the fight in the mud puddle...among other things. That's actually one I have to get out and re-read someday soon.

I just wanted to let you know that I finally finished Morevi. I was going to use stronger language but a friend counseled me against it. You made me cry! (LOL!) Last time I cried while reading a book was the fourth Harry Potter. So consider yourself in good company as far as this reader is concerned!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed it and that I'm telling everyone to go get a copy!

From the first time I laughed out loud on page 41 I was hooked.  This book not only has the most detailed historical combat scenes of any I've ever read, but the chemistry between Askana and Rafe fits the characters effortlessly.  Saying it is electric is a poor way to describe it, as it is sometimes humorous, sometimes sensual, and always perfect.  The book is well plotted, and the twists and turns keep you going until the everything comes together.  I will be eagerly awaiting the sequel, as well as other books you publish.  Please extend my compliments to your co-author on a book which I greatly enjoyed. The only problem now is waiting for the sequel.

I really enjoyed the book. You and Lisa did a great job with the book. It certainly kept my attention and it was very clear that you were more than familiar with your subjects. I could tell that your experience from the RenFest really served you well when you wrote the fight scenes. That's usually one of my pet peeves with fantasy stories, but I could easily see the encounters in my mind.

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that Lisa did most of Askana's scenes and you did most of Rafe's. Not that your writing styles are jarringly different, in fact, it blended together very well. That's something hard to do with two writers, esp. if they're passionate about their writing. There were just some slight nuances when we were looking at things from either person's perspective that led me to this assumption.

Also, you weaved in just enough intrigue without losing me completely. Sometimes it seemed that Askana put up with a little more crap than I though she would have, (given her temper, hidden though it is), but I guess you can't behead the entire royal council on a daily basis.

I'm certainly looking forward to the next voyage of the Defiant and seeing what happens to Rafe and Askana in the future.

As an avid reader of sci fi and fantasy and all that is Middle Earth, I am now officially a fan. Morevi satisfied me on all levels - structurally, plotline, aesthetically, gutturally and romantically. I just loved it. It satisfied my own two litmus tests of yes, it made me stay up until 3am on a work night to finish it and then I was depressed because I missed the characters. You rock, Mr. Morris! Can't wait to read Billibub! And of course, I also can't wait until the Chronicles of Rafe and Askana call you back to the word processor!

Jean Orrico

I LOVED THE BOOK!!! It is fabulous! I haven't had so much fun reading a book in a long time....... waiting for the next one!

Authors Note: Jean Orrico works with the cast of FARSCAPE as a professional liaison between the guest stars and various conventions. She met Tee at CopperCon 23 while working with Lani Tupu and David Franklin. With the intensity those two worked that event, Tee sincerely appreciates Jean's enthusiastic review of MOREVI.

Lisa and Tee, For months I have contemplated what I could say to the two of you that others have not already said. I was quite simply captured within pages of beginning MOREVI and propelled along on a fascinating adventure. I began reading because Tee is so special to me and he asked, but I was enthralled. As a teacher I look for the strengths and weaknesses in writing: the characterization was superb -- the characters are real, I know them; the multiplicity of plots immerses the reader in the intrigues of Morevi, yet never confuses. I kept looking for the breaks or interruptions where one writer started and the other left off. At moments I thought I heard Tee speaking to me but most of the time I felt the two of you had merged into one creator. Bravo!

Authors Note: Alexandria McGrath was Tee Morris' 10th Grade English teacher...and the teacher who encouraged him to write! Thank you, Ms. McGrath!

A simple thanks to you and Lisa for a great read. I stayed up till 4:30 this morning until I finished Morevi. Your book is a glowing mark in a exciting and thrilling genre. A magical, awe-inspiring journey that keeps the reader enthralled right to the very end. Throughout Morevi I became a friend of Captain Rafe and an admirer of the exquisite Queen Askana (and her fascinating disposition).

I wanted to congratulate you and your co-author on your book. I normally don't read much science fiction but when I finally got the time to start reading your book I couldn't put it down. Believe me that to read your novel in one week with 2 babies, a house and husband to take care of, as well as working part-time is very fast and testimony to how much I enjoyed Morevi.

I recently finished reading it. Your book wasn't just good. It was fabulous! Character development was great, descriptive text rivetting, details to period intriguing (clothes, weaponry, etc.) and it had an overall unique premise (combining swash buckling with Asian culture, etc.) And talk about a rewarding ending. Great work!

"Since the release of the Tolkien movies there has been a rise of cookie-cutter fantasy. Unfortunately, most of these copy's are not nearly as good as the original. With Morevi, Lisa Lee and Tee Morris do a superb job of avoiding many of the fantasy cliche's. In essence, imagine Errol Flynn dropping into the middle of the politics that encompasses the world of Dune. Morevi is thick with wit and intrigue. It is a fun book that only asks you to come along for the ride."

Authors Note: Kara purchased MOREVI on Saturday, 18 January, at Arisia 2003...

I was sort of hooked on the book before I even left the convention, but I ended up having to put Monday projects onto Tuesday, because once I recovered from the weekend I picked up the book again. I couldn't wait to find out what was next. It was really hard 11 hours later to put it down long enough to drive to work. I brought it with me figuring I could read it during my break, well the shift was a bit slow and I found I could continue the story. I finished it at 5:45 this morning.

At least three times I found I had to go back and read passages I'd missed. In my rush to find out what happened next I was skipping paragraphs! Luckily I didn't skip too far ahead. I love the interweaving themes of male-female as well as those of King Henry's England and Morevi. I knew it was going to be a good story when I saw it two weeks ago, but if I had known how good I would never have put it back.

This is not your ordinary fantasy novel. And I am very glad about that. You two have made a great team with this book. I can't wait for the next one! I quite enjoyed the ride, thank you.

p.s. I thought Rafe being left-handed was a neat personal touch. Not many left-handed heros in books these days.

I'm a junkie--I'm reading MOREVI....again. Rafe is waiting on [PLOT SPOILER HERE]. Bravi, Tee and Lisa :)

I just wanted to let you know that I finished Morevi, and I absolutely loved it! I hope that there will be more adventures of Rafe and Askana.

Authors Note: Don't worry...there will be...

The book was brisk and laden with action. I was very impressed with several of the characters within the text. Even some of the minor figures aroused my curiosity considerably. Each was painted with detail. All rounded out a fine story with several interesting twists. Congratulations. You have made a fine mark. I look forward to the next creation.

I. [BLEEP]-ing. Loved it.

No [BLEEP]. And that's not just me locking lips on your [BLEEP] in the hopes that something good will come of it. Nope, just honest to gosh admiration for a job well done. My hat is completely off to you!

I was amazed how well you managed to weave the multiple plot lines into a cohesive story. Both you and Lisa are amazing creatures to take on such a big task and deliver so well. Nicely done!

Every aspect of the book was fabulous. Such a nice change of pace from the "quest" series that seems to plague so many fantasy writers. Bravo my friend, bravo.

Authors Note: We award Evo Terra "Most Colorful Review" to date. *LOL*

I was really captivated by the story line. The plot is complex and I really enjoyed that. I liked that there was [PLOT SPOILER HERE], the anticipation built up prior was great. I would definitely reccommend this to my peers.

Good luck with future writings and I can't wait to read the next adventure.

I loved it. Believe me, I loved it. I was moved to tears by the ending, and about to hate you when [PLOT SPOILER HERE] but relieved when you [PLOT SPOILER HERE]... it was perfect. I loved it.
