MUSIC
Would you believe I discovered Diane Arkenstone through my DirecTV?
As it goes sometimes, I woke up early in the morning and could not get back to sleep. I turned the DirecTV to “Atmospheres” which, at that time, was their New Age channel. I had just reached that cusp of Dreamland when I heard “The Secret Garden” by Diane Arkenstone. Wide awake, I enjoyed watching the sunrise to her music.
I was thrilled when she granted permission for me to feature “The Secret Garden” in the MOREVI podcast. Since that time, we occasionally write one another and keep up with what each other is doing artistically. Once again, Diane has graciously offered her music to Rafe and Askana’s first adventure across The Rift.
ART
Boston, 2005…there is a Noreaster of apocalyptic proportions about to descend on Arisia, and Tony Ruggiero and I are trying to pack up and catch the last train out. Before I hit the road, though, I make sure to pose for a picture with two con attendees that were the best panels stalkers any author could ask for. I never got their names and in the picute I could only make out one of their names. “Foenixfyre.”
Baltimore, 2006…on my way to a panel on pirates, I happen to make eye contact with one of the Balticon attendees. It happens to be Foenixfyre. This time, we exchange names and e-mails. Carrie and I have remained in touch and swapped stories on good scotch, great anime, and musings on life. I was thrilled when, after listening to the original podcast of MOREVI, she felt her muse whisper an idea in her head…
That idea became the cover art for MOREVI: Remastered. Find out more about her work (all for sale) at her online gallery at Deviant Art.
